Have you tried to make them yet? With two cups of butter, they've gotta be good, right?

First, the email, then the recipe:

"Neiman-Marcus, if you don't know already, is a very expensive store; Let's let them have it! THIS IS A TRUE STORY!My daughter and I had just finished a salad at a Neiman-Marcus Cafe In Dallas, and we decided to have a small dessert. Because both of us are such cookie lovers, we decided to try the 'Neiman-Marcus cookie.' It was so excellent that I asked if they would give me the recipe, and the waitress said with a small frown, 'I'm afraid not, but you can buy The Recipe.' Well, I asked how much, and she responded, ' Only two fifty - it's a Great deal!' I agreed to that, and told her to just add it to my Tab.Thirty days later, I received my VISA statement, and the Neiman-Marcus Charge was $285.00! I looked again, and I remembered I had only spent $9.95 for two salads and about $20.00 for a scarf. As I glanced at the bottom of the statement, it said,'Cookie Recipe-$250.00.' That was Outrageous! I called Neiman's Accounting Department and told them the waitress said it was 'two fifty', which clearly does not mean 'two hundred and fifty dollars' by any reasonable interpretation of the phrase. Neiman-Marcus refused to budge. They would not refund my money because, according to them, 'What the waitress told you is not our problem. You have already seen the Recipe. We absolutely will not refund your money at this point.' I explained to the Accounting Department lady the criminal statutes which govern fraud in the State of Texas I threatened to report them to the Better Business Bureau and the Texas Attorney General's office for engaging in fraud. I was basically told, 'Do what you want. Don't bother thinking of how you can get even, and don't bother trying to get any of your money Back.'I just said, Okay, you folks got my $250, and now I'm going to have$250 worth of fun. I told her that I was going to see to it that every Cookie Lover in the United States with an e-mail account has a $250cookie recipe From Neiman-Marcus...for free. She replied, 'I wish you wouldn't do this.' I said, 'Well, perhaps you should have thought of that before you ripped me off!' and slammed down the phone. So here it is!Please, please, please pass it on to everyone you can possibly think of.I paid $250 for this, and I don't want Neiman-Marcus to EVER make another penny off of this recipe!"

NEIMAN-MARCUS COOKIES

(Recipe may be halved)

2 cups butter

24 oz. Chocolate chips

4 cups flour

2 cups brown sugar

2 tsp. Soda

1 tsp. Baking powder

2 tsp. Vanilla

3 cups chopped nuts (your choice)

Measure oatmeal, and blend in a blender to a fine powder. Cream the butter and both sugars. Add eggs and vanilla, mix together with flour, oatmeal, salt, baking powder, and soda . Add chocolate chips, Hershey bar, and nuts. Roll into balls, and place two inches apart on a cookie Sheet. You can also search the Internet for chocolate icing recipes.)

MINT ICING

5 Tbsp. margarine
dash of salt
3 Tbsp. milk
1 Tbsp. light corn syrup
2 1/3 c. powdered sugar
1/2 tsp. mint extract
1-2 drops green food coloring

1. Melt margarine and mix in cocoa. Allow to cool. Add honey, eggs, sugar, flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix well. Add nuts. Pour batter into a greased 9-by-13 baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Cool.

2. Prepare mint icing: Soften margarine. Add salt, corn syrup, and powdered sugar. Beat until smooth and fluffy. Add mint extract and food coloring. Mix. Add milk gradually until the consistency is a little thinner than cake frosting.

3. Spread mint icing over brownies. Place brownies in the freezer for a short time to stiffen the icing. Remove from the freezer and carefully add a layer of chocolate icing.
CHOCOLATE ICING (Liz's Version)

1 2/3 c. powdered sugar
4 T margarine, softenend
1 T light corn syrup
6 T cocoa
6 T milk

I made this chocolate icing recipe up and I actually can't remember the measurements for the cocoa & milk. I just keep adding till i got the consistency right (a think ganache). So just mix everything then slowly add cocoa and milk till you find your right proportions. I wanted it to be a little fudgy and a little bitter (cocoa) because the mint icing and the brownie itself are very sweet.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://extremedinnermakeover.blogspot.com/2008/10/byu-mint-brownies-rah-rah-rah.html' title='BYU Mint Brownies. Press into greased pie pan and bake on 375 for 15 minutes.

6-7 peeled peaches-lemon alberta is the best variety for pies.

In a saucepan on medium to medium high (don't get it too hot or it will burn), take 2 or 3 of the peaches and smash with fork or cut them into chunks. Add 2 Tablespoons cornstarch and cook until it thickens up substantially. (about 10 minutes.)

Slice the remaining peaches straight into the cooked pie shell. Pour the peach/sauce over the fresh sliced peaches. I got it from my sister-in-law and owe her big time for it! :) THANKS TORY!

Ingredients:
3-5 pcs frozen chicken breasts (or any desired piece of chicken, but breasts work the best)
1 bottle BBQ sauce of choice
Crock Pot
Rice

In the morning put 3-5 chicken breasts in the crock pot. Pour in a whole bottle of your choice of BBQ sauce. Set to low and cook for 8 hours. At about the 6th hour, check to make sure that it is mixing together well and mix if necessary. At the 7th hour use a fork to pull the chicken apart. Cook as much rice as desired in enough time to eat when hungry. This is also good if you cook the chicken and put it on a sandwich.

fusilli alla caprese

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp1.blogger.com/_ifFniZXum9s/R-lb6U8NkYI/AAAAAAAAAHc/Da3NGHlLBzU/s320/everyday.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5181773903878263170" />
1 pound fusilli pasta
3 tablespoons olive oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
3 cups cherry tomatoes, quartered (about 1 1/2 pints)
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1/2 cup packed fresh basil leaves, torn

8 ounces fresh mozzarella, diced (about 1 1/4 cups)
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil over high heat. Drain pasta into a large bowl and reserve 1/2 cup of the cooking liquid.
In a medium skillet heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the garlic and saute until fragrant, about 2 minutes. Add the tomatoes, salt, and pepper. As the tomatoes cook and soften, smash them with a fork. Continue to cook until the tomatoes make a chunky style sauce, about 4 minutes. Transfer the tomato sauce to the bowl with the pasta. Toss to combine. Add the basil leaves and mozzarella. Stir to combine. Add the reserved pasta water, 1/4 cup at a time, until the pasta is moist. Serve with ice cream, and spoon some of the sweet sauces from the pan over the top.

Chicken Noodle Casserole - Super Easy

This is a super easy recipe. Really...try them....you'll see. Love them.
Ingredients:
Makes 3 dozen

1 2/3 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
8 tablespoons (1 stick) unsalted butter
2 1/2 cups light-brown sugar, firmly packed
1 large egg
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1/2 cup heavy cream, plus more if necessary
1 cup sifted confectioners' sugar
1 cup pecan halves, toasted (I didn't toast) and broken into large pieces

Directions:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl. Set aside. I
n the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, cream butter and 1 1/2 cups light-brown sugar on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes.
Add egg and vanilla. Beat until fully combined.
Add dry ingredients, and beat on low speed until combined.
Drop batter in rounded teaspoons onto ungreased baking sheets about 2 inches apart.
Bake until firm and barely golden, 10 to 12 minutes. Transfer pan to a wire rack to cool for 5 minutes, then transfer cookies from pan to wire rack.

Icing:
In a small saucepan, combine remaining 1 cup light-brown sugar and cream. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Using an electric mixer, cream peanut butter and butter in a mixing bowl until smooth. Add brown sugar; beat until combined, scraping down bowl as needed. Add eggs and vanilla, and beat until incorporated.
2. In a small bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. With mixer on low speed, gradually beat in flour mixture in two batches.
3. Scoop off dough by the tablespoon; roll into balls. Place granulated sugar on a plate; roll balls in sugar, coating completely. Place 2 inches apart on a nonstick insulated baking sheet.
4. Bake until cookies begin to puff up slightly, about 7 minutes. Remove from oven. Press one peanut butter cup in center of each cookie. Return to oven; continue baking until cookies are golden brown and chocolate has begun to melt, about 6 minutes more. Let cool at least 10 minutes on baking sheet before transferring cookies to rack to cool completely.

so yummers

tell me that is not the tastiest looking sammy you ever saw?
go to popsugar.com (yumsugar section) for more

2 slices multigrain bread
2 tablespoons sweet mustard
2 slices cold-cut turkey
1/4 of an avocado, cut into thin slices
9 thin-cut slices of cucumber
alfalfa sprouts
1 slice of Swiss or mozzarella cheese

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Place bread slices side by side on an oven-safe plate or baking sheet. (best i've tasted at least) anyway, a while back my mom found the recipe and made it for our family and i was so impressed. it tasted just as good at home as it does at the restaurant. i don't know why i didn't think to post this recipe earlier but i am making the chowder this week so i thought i'd post it. the recipe makes 12 servings so for us small families i would probably half it and eat the leftovers for the next few days.

Ingredients:
1 cup potatoes, diced ½ inch
1 cup celery, diced ½ inch
1 cup onion, diced ½ inch
1 cup green pepper, diced ½ inch
1 cup leeks, diced ½ inch
¾ cup chopped clams (canned or fresh)
¾ tablespoon coarse ground black pepper
1 ½ tablespoon salt
¾ tablespoon whole thyme
6 bay leaves
1 teaspoon Tabasco
¾ cup sherry wine (optional)
2 cups water
¾ cup clam juice (drained from canned clams or purchased separately in can)
¾ cup butter, melted
1 cup flour
2 quarts half-and-half

Directions:
Combine melted butter and flour in oven-proof container and bake at 325 degrees for 30 minutes. In large saucepan, combine remaining ingredients except half-and-half. Simmer until potatoes are thoroughly cooked. Stir butter-flour mixture into chowder and stir until thick. Mixture will be slightly less thick than cookie dough. Remove chowder from heat. Stir in half-and-half until blended. Heat to serving temperature, stirring occasionally.

Serve immediately.

crockpot chicken taco's

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp3.blogger.com/_ifFniZXum9s/R1A5G4KCPiI/AAAAAAAAAEA/winqiXognEo/s200/fajita.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5138669965146209826" />
Davis loves these and I love mexican food so I make them a lot. Taste for seasoning. Pour into a bowl, and set aside. May be made ahead of time and refrigerated.

Wraps
Mix the cashews, sesame oil, and salt in a small bowl. Set aside.

Purée the maple syrup, lemon juice, ginger, red chile, and soy sauce in a blender. Add the almond butter, and blend at low speed to combine. Add water to thin if necessary.

Put the shredded cabbage in a bowl, and pour the almond-butter mixture over it. Toss well to combine.

Cut out the center rib of each collard-green leaf, dividing the leaf in half. Place 1 half-leaf on a cutting board with underside face up. Arrange a few tablespoons of the cabbage mixture evenly across the bottom third of the leaf, leaving about 1 1⁄2 inches clear at the bottom. Sprinkle some of the chopped cashews over the cabbage. Lay a few sticks of carrot, a baton of mango, and a few bean sprouts on top. Add a few leaves each of cilantro, basil, and mint. Fold the bottom of the leaf up and over the filling, keeping it tight, and tuck the leaf under the ingredients and roll forward. Place the roll seam-side down on a serving dish. Repeat with remaining collard leaves and ingredients.

Serve with the tamarind dipping sauce.

Cran- Orange Streusel Muffins

I have not made these yet but i found them in a magazine and im going to try them out. let me know if you like them

Ingredients:
1/4 C butter (softened)
1/2 C sugar
1 egg
1 C Milk
1/4 C unsweetened applesauce
1/2 tsp Vanilla
2 C Flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 C fresh or frozen cranberries (coarsly chopped)
2 1/2 tsp grated orange peel

topping:

2 Tbsp flour
2 Tbsp Brown sugar
1/4 tsp cinnamon
2 Tbsp cold butter

In large bowl:
beat butter and sugar.
